The RHS Chatsworth Flower Show and Gardens of Derbyshire
There could be few finer settings than Chatsworth House for the latest addition to the RHS flower show calendar, and it has already established itself as one of the must-see events of the summer season.
Set against the classic landscape shaped by Capability Brown and Joseph Paxton, the show aims to present the best in British design and innovation. The themes of Mediterranean, jungle and woodland will be explored and interpreted by garden designers in a recreation of Joseph Paxton’s Great Conservatory. As with all RHS shows, the country’s best nurseries will be in attendance with stunning displays.
By contrast, the holiday will also include visits to some of the region’s classic gardens including Felley Priory, with its beautiful herbaceous borders, old fashioned roses and white garden; Hardwick Hall known for its woodland, an orchard and romantic rambling roses and Haddon Hall, which although an ancient residence, has had areas of the garden redesigned in the past few years.
We will also visit RHS Garden Harlow Carr. Set on the outskirts of Harrogate, the garden is divided by a stream into a mature woodland area which has a wide range of mature trees, rhododendrons and specimen trees and the herbaceous area where different styles of gardening can be seen. The fruit and vegetable gardens will inspire keen gardeners to try something new and the Alpine house always has interesting and beautiful plants to see.
