Castles and Historic Houses of Cheshire
Summary
This tour takes us to the north-west of England and explores some of the finest historic houses and castles in Cheshire. Our first visit is to Capesthorne Hall, a Grade II listed hall dating back to the 18th century. We then delve into the 4000-year history of Beeston Castle as well as the Jacobean mansion, Dorfold Hall. We cover all eras on this odyssey, as we will also visit the Georgian country house Rode Hall an unusual combination of two houses made into one, and Peover Hall, an Elizabethan house that was requisitioned during World War II by the US general George Patton to prepare for the D-Day landings. We have a full day to explore the delights of Tatton Park, including a ‘Hidden Treasures’ tour where we are able to see some unique artefacts not normally on display to the public, before enjoying a quintessential afternoon tea. Our last stop is the higgledy-piggledy Tudor house of Little Moreton Hall before we make our way homewards.
