Calling all toe-tappers and admirers of good music: for a truly tuneful Christmas break, why not join us for three nights in stunning Perthshire? From our base at the luxurious Dunkeld House Hotel we enjoy some of Scotland's finest sounds. Picture an authentic piper playing alongside afternoon tea, a talented trio of musicians jazzing up your Christmas lunch, and live piano music set to soothe you over supper. We even have a rousing Ceilidh on the cards!
This Yuletide trip isn't only about the sounds, of course: it's also about the scenery. Picturesque Perthshire is known as the “big county”, and its sites are frequently spectacular in terms of both scale and impact. Few regions feature such an dramatic display of native woodland, cascading rivers, friendly mountains, and traditional towns. And as for the local hospitality, well, you'll feel part of the family in no time.
Book a place on this special break today and experience Christmas as it ought to be: an easy blend of welcoming smiles, hearty feasts, cheerful company and jolly old knees-ups – not to mention all the opportunities to nap, chat and relax that one could wish for either side of a great big Christmas lunch. With any luck, we may even get a sprinkling of snow...
Such celebrations come but once a year. So make this Christmas an event you'll remember for many moons to come. As the Gaelic greeting goes: Nollaig Chridheil!

24 December 2018: Itinerary
Our trip starts on Christmas Eve, when our comfortable coach sets off for Perthshire. En route to our hotel we stop at Crieff, a historic market town just west of Perth, where Lowlands and Highlands meet. The second leg of our journey begins after lunch in town, and we arrive at our accommodation, the four-star Dunkeld House Hotel on the beautiful banks of the River Tay, in time for an afternoon tea complete with piper.
The festive atmosphere continues into the evening, with dinner in the Garden Restaurant accompanied by a live pianist.
Our Christmas Day begins with a delicious Scottish breakfast. The rest of the morning is ours to use however we wish: cosy up with a book overlooking the hotel's natural woodland, or take a stroll by the river to build up an appetite.
Christmas lunch with the Dunkeld Jazz Trio follows: a three-course feast with all the trimmings – and not a washing up bowl in sight! Afterwards, there's plenty of time to unwind. Watch the Queen's speech, bathe in the hotel's heated pool, or enjoy a well-deserved nap. For those of us who still have room tonight, a buffet supper is served.
A scenic coach tour sets off after breakfast this morning. Visit friendly Aberfeldy, Scotland's first Fairtrade town, explore popular Pitlochry, famed for its gorgeous Victorian architecture, and take in the magnificent Queen's View, with its spectacular vista across Loch Tummel. Following this we head for the House of Bruar, a prestigious Highland institution, to snag ourselves a bargain in the Boxing Day sales.
Dinner at the hotel this evening leads in to a jubilant Ceilidh. We raise our spirits, and the roof, in authentic Scottish style. The perfect way to round off our stay in Dunkeld.
We return to our pick-up points after breakfast and make our fond farewells.
