This tour delves in to one of Warwickshire’s most iconic medieval towns, Stratford-upon-Avon. Most famous as being the birthplace of one of England’s most notable writers William Shakespeare. We visit numerous sites that played key roles in the playwright’s life including Shakespeare’s Birthplace a 16th-century half-timbered house where it is believed William Shakespeare was born and spent his early years and Anne Hathaway’s Cottage, a twelve-room farmhouse where the wife of Shakespeare lived as a child and where their budding relationship would have first flourished. There is also an optional excursion to the neighbouring town of Warwick, which is stepped in history, explore the old town which is peppered with 17th and 18th century buildings including the court house with its fabulous Georgian ballroom and Shire Hall with its octagonal tower lantern. Later in day there is also a visit to one of Britain’s biggest historical sites, Kenilworth Castle.
