The Vineyards of Kent & Sussex with Susy Atkins (Country Living/Good Housekeeping)
English wines have enjoyed a growing reputation for quality and sophistication in recent years and the fertile countryside of Kent and Sussex is home to an increasing number of top-quality,
award-winning vineyards and wineries. What could be more enticing than a behind-the-scenes tour of a vineyard on a typical English summer’s day, followed by a tasting of the finished product and a spot of lunch or a delicious dinner?
Join us for four such tours and a special appearance by Susy Atkins, the award-winning drinks columnist and wine expert who will share with us her knowledge of and passion for the wonderful world of wine.
Our tour gets underway with a visit to the Mount Vineyard in Shoreham, Kent, winner of the ‘Wine Tasting Experience of the Year’ in 2018, where we enjoy a tour of the vineyard and wine tasting, along with a light lunch. We will be joined here by Susy Atkins, who will also have dinner with us in the hotel later in the evening and give a talk on wine and wine tasting.
The following day we continue with a tour and tasting at the Hush Heath Vineyard in Kent, followed by an afternoon visit to Sissinghurst, the famous Kent garden created by the writers Vita
Sackville-West and Harold Nicolson in the 1930s and the perfect spot to enjoy a leisurely summer’s afternoon. Later we continue to the Chapel Down winery, where a tour and tasting is followed by a special three course dinner with wine at the adjacent restaurant, the Swan Wine Kitchen.
Our final day sees us in the neighbouring county of East Sussex as we explore the Bluebell Vineyard, sample some of their wines and enjoy a catered picnic lunch before returning to London.
