The festival of the Patios is very much a traditional Spanish affair when locals wander from house to house admiring the astonishing displays in the spring sunshine, while proud owners keep a careful eye on their handiwork. There will be two opportunities to view the patios, along with an afternoon visit to Viana Palace, which has wonderful gardens itself and no fewer than fourteen patios. Prior to our visit to Córdoba we will stay in the beautiful city of Seville to visit the Cathedral and the Orange Tree Courtyard that belonged to the old Mosque, followed by the amazing Royal Palaces of the Alcázar. We will also see the Maria-Luisa Park, the Plaza de España and the Gardens of Murillo. We will also spend an afternoon in nearby Carmona, where we will see more richly decorated patio gardens and visit the intriguing private garden of Moratalla which has elements of both French and Neo-Sevillian style.
