Southern Rhine Garden Cruise
Explore picturesque gardens, quaint medieval towns, beautiful castles and breath-taking scenery on this voyage along the Southern Rhine.
You will travel by rail from London to the enchanting German city of Cologne famous for its towering Gothic Cathedral, before embarking the A-ROSA AQUA, a spacious and well-appointed river cruiser accommodating around 200 passengers. On board we will enjoy all-inclusive luxury, with breakfast, lunch and dinner; tea, coffee and snacks and high quality drinks throughout the day. All cabins have a large window to the outside and a full range of amenities such as flat-screen TV, en-suite shower and WC and air-conditioning. Bathrobes, toiletries and mineral water are provided in every cabin and a 15% discount is offered on Spa treatments. Up-grades to upper deck cabins with Juliette balconies are available at a supplement.
Glide along the glistening waters of the Rhine to some of the region’s most iconic cities where your ship will dock in the very heart of the action. Discover 10-hectre arboretum and botanical gardens in Mainz, home to around 8500 different species of plants, before you head towards the French city of Strasbourg. Famous for its medieval houses, exquisite palaces and the masterpiece of gothic architecture that is Strasbourg Cathedral. After an overnight stay, the next stop is the Swiss city of Basel. At the heart of the city, you will find Marktplaz, which is lies in the shadows of the imposing 16th-century red sandstone Town Hall. Also visible from the water of the river Rhine is the impressive gothic cathedral. A must when in Basel is to take a short ride through picturesque countryside to the shores of Lake Constance, home to the island of Mainau which features over 25 hectares of impressive gardens and was placed under a preservation order in 2003. Breisach is the next port of call which is where the Black Forest and French region of Alsace collide in a myriad of influences from Germany, Switzerland and France. You may choose to explore the neighboring village of Rosenkranz home to the Parc de Schoppenwihr where you can meander through the botanical gardens, around serene lakes and charming meadows. Sail through the Lorelei Valley and the UNESCO World Heritage Site that is the Middle Rhine Valley en route to the German City of Koblenz, which sits at the confluence of the Rhine and Moselle Rivers before returning in Cologne.
