Our Cornish spring and late summer walking experience features some of the most popular destinations of the region, including the ruins of Tintagel Castle, forever associated with Arthurian legend, a stunning coastal walk and the wilds of Bodmin Moor.
Walks of moderate length in the morning are followed by relaxing afternoon visits, such as Pencarrow Gardens and the Bodmin Steam Railway, all set against the glorious scenery and distinctive culture of the county.

Your itinerary
Day 1 -
Travel independently to our comfortable accommodation at the Lanhydrock Hotel and Golf Club, Bodmin. The nearest railway station is at Bodmin Parkway.
Please note that packed lunches (not included) are available from the hotel, and should be ordered the previous evening.

Day 2 -
Following a healthy breakfast we transfer by coach to Tintagel. Associated with the legends of King Arthur and home to the blackened ruins of Tintagel Castle, our walk is known as King Arthur’s Walk and takes in part of the Southwest Coastal Path. See the legendary castle and incredible new footbridge, recreating the historic crossing from the mainland to the headland, the beach at Tintagel Haven and then carry on around the headland. There are several caves in the cliffs including Merlin’s Cave, where King Arthur’s magician is said to have lived. At Barros Nose, an important geological where the rocks have been deformed and changed by Earth movements during the Variscan mountain-building period some 400 million years ago, we detour to the tip of the headland for incredible views across the Atlantic.

After an opportunity for lunch in Tintagel we continue by coach to Pencarrow Garden, a 50-acre country house garden that has such diverse features as a Victorian rockery, Italian gardens, an ice house and an Iron Age fort. We return to our hotel where dinner will be served.

Day 3 -
Today, following breakfast, our coach will transfer us to Carnewas at Bedruthan, the starting point for our walk along a spectacular stretch of the north Cornwall coast, which ends at the sandy beach at Porthcothan.

We then transfer to the coastal town Padstow, the perfect spot for a relaxing afternoon, with the opportunity for lunch at Rick Stein’s famous Fish & Chips or one of the many restaurants in the harbour.

Day 4 -
Following breakfast our coach will transfer us to Bodmin Moor, where we enjoy a circular walk over the northern tip of the moor to the prehistoric burial chamber at the top of Buttern Hill and source of the River Fowey, returning via farm tracks and country lanes to the tributary streams of the River Inny.

After an opportunity for lunch (not included) at the famous Jamaica Inn we transfer to the town of Bodmin for a nostalgia-fuelled trip on the Bodmin Steam Railway, a round trip of 13 miles which takes a leisurely two hours to complete.
Later we return to the hotel for dinner, a little foot-sore and weary perhaps but with happy memories of some great walking.

Following breakfast we are free to return home independently. Extended stays can be arranged on request.
