Summary
We head northwards through the rolling English countryside to the stunning Lake District. Enjoy the stupendous vistas of glacial lakes, rugged mountains and quaint towns as we venture into one of the most visited areas of England. On this tour of Cumbria’s castles and country houses we have the chance to explore the multi-faceted Dalemain, family home to the Hasell-McCosh family, and Wordsworth House, home of the celebrated and much-loved English poet William Wordsworth. We also visit Hutton-in-the-Forest, home of Lord and Lady Inglewood as well as the dramatic historical ruins at Lowther Castle. Continuing our Cumbrian adventure we visit Holker Hall overlooking Morecambe Bay, home to the Cavendish family and one of the most notable country houses in South Lakeland, followed by Muncaster Castle, which occupies an imposing position over the River Esk. Before we leave Cumbria we will visit the gardens at Sizergh Castle.
