Behind the Scenes with Alpine Supervisor John Mitchell

Rendez-vous at the world-renowned Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, where we are joined by Alpine Supervisor and modern-day plant hunter John Mitchell, where we will be privileged to have an exclusive ‘Behind the Wall’ tour of the Alpine Section, an area not normally open to the public. John will also give us a talk on Alpine plants and his expeditions all around the world in search of new specimens, as well as a guided tour of the rest of the garden. Lunch is included, served in the David Douglas Room in the John Hope Gateway.

Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, affectionately known locally as ’The Botanics’, is one of the finest botanic gardens in the world. A pleasure for all the family, the garden offers fantastic views of the capital's skyline, featuring Edinburgh Castle, and is located just a mile from the city centre.  Visitors can discover its fascinating history, which dates back 350 years, learn about its plantings and walk around 70 acres of beautiful landscape.

Other highlights include the serenity of the Chinese Hillside, the world-famous Rock Garden or the awe-inspiring Giant Redwood trees in the Woodland Garden.  Plus, there are fine artworks to view in the Garden's contemporary art gallery Inverleith House.
