Bath, Cheddar and West Somerset
England’s southwest corner awaits - from rolling hills to spectacular coastlines, and from sprawling beaches to dramatic gorges - we see it all. Join us for five days of discovery around some of Somerset's most impressive attractions. Our itinerary includes the break-taking Cheddar Gorge which carves a path through the Mendip Hills, and a trip aboard the steam hauled West Somerset Railway, a heritage line running 20 miles through the picturesque countryside. Gaze upon the rolling Quantock hills, the vast expanse of Exmoor and coastal cliffs as we step back in time to the era of steam travel.
Visit the coastal town of Weston-Super-Mare, home to a glorious sandy beach and the cultural capital of the county - Bath, most famous for its natural baths which date back to the Roman era. The rejuvenating waters of the city are still a big draw, the Thermae Bath Spa, houses the only natural thermal hot springs in Britain in which you can bathe, if you wish to visit booking is required in advance. Hot springs aside the city is overflowing with eateries, quaint shops, museums and galleries.

We depart from our designated pick-up points and head towards England’s Southwest corner – Somerset. Day 2 -
After breakfast this morning, we depart on a scenic drive through one of Britain’s most impressive natural landmarks – Cheddar Gorge. The ravine itself is some 400 feet deep and runs three miles through the Mendip Hills, and its weathered crags and peaks are one of the most breath-taking natural sights. Formed around one million years ago when water from melting glaciers formed a river carving its way through the limestone rock creating this spectacular ravine. You may wish to visit the famous Gough’s Cave, Museum of Prehistory, Museum of Prehistory, Cox’s Cave featuring Dreamhunters: The Early Adventures of Man Jacob's Ladder and the Lookout Tower, Beyond the View or simply enjoy some free time in the village of Cheddar sitting at the top of the gorge.
In the afternoon we travel to the seaside town of Weston-Super-Mare on the north Somerset coast. The town has a rich Victorian history and a glorious sandy beach, the perfect spot for some seaside fish ‘n chips! Spend some time exploring before we head back to our hotel
Day 3 -
This morning you may wish to join the optional excursion as we head for Bishops Lydeard, where we board the West Somerset Railway, a heritage line running 20 miles through the picturesque countryside. Gaze upon the rolling Quantock hills, the vast expanse of Exmoor and coastal cliffs as we step back in time to the era of steam travel. We arrive in Minehead where after lunch (not included) we re-join our coach.
This afternoon we take a scenic drive through the Exmoor National Park, named after the river flowing at its heart. Although the smallest of the UK’s National Parks, while lacking in size - it is packed with wonders such as the famous Exmoor ponies, towering sea cliffs and a unique Atlantic rainforest.
Day 4 -
Today we head to the largest city in Somerset, Bath. It was named after the Roman-built baths and is an elegant city packed with contemporary culture, rich traditions and lovely green spaces.
This afternoon you may wish to take a leisurely cruise along the river Avon to the village of Bathampton. Glide under historic Pulteney Bridge and into the Avon Valley where there is a chance to spot some local wildlife including swans, herons, Kingfishers and if you are lucky otters!
Day 5 -
After breakfast we return to our original pick-up points.
