Chart a course and set the propeller going — it’s full steam ahead on our Classic Scottish Steam break! Discover firsts, lasts, exclusives and superlatives on this unique tour which will take us back to the heady days of the era of steam, and join us in travelling by track and tide through some of Scotland’s most picturesque landscapes.

Ever wanted to see Britain’s highest mountain? Its shortest river? How about the deepest freshwater loch in Europe? On our Classic Scottish Steam Break, you can — and then some. The experiences to be had on this tour run from Britain-wide superlatives to global exclusives, including a ride on the world’s last seagoing paddle steamer.

With this in mind, you’ll forgive us if we find it difficult to pin down just one highlight! First, we take the Jacobite Steam Train from Fort William to Mallaig on one of the longest — and most spectacularly scenic — steam-hauled rail journeys available in Britain today. Another unforgettable experience is sure to be our journey over the iconic Glenfinnan viaduct, immortalised in numerous films, but perhaps most recognisable as part of the route of the Hogwarts Express in the Harry Potter films. We also take an enchanting trip on the world’s last seagoing paddle steamer, and on the world’s first rotating boat lift.

From the gently sloping beauty of the Argyll hills to the lucid Kyles of Bute, via famous feats of Scottish engineering there’s simply no better way to explore the many scenic gifts that the country has to offer.
