Tresco - The Idyllic Island of Tresco, 3 Nightsfrom £ 675.00

As the clatter of the helicopter fades into the distance, you are enveloped in almost total silence and you realise that at last you can leave behind the stress of everyday existence and start to enjoy island life.

Tour Overview

If someone told you they were off to a paradise island of quartz sands, sub tropical flora, surrounded by translucent turquoise seas, you would be forgiven for thinking they were jetting off to the Caribbean.  But this particular island is actually just 28 miles from the Cornish coast.  Tresco in the Isles of Scilly is totally unspoilt, basks in a balmy climate and is renowned as 'England's Island of Flowers'. Tresco’s climate ensures that even in winter there are 300 plants in flower in the Abbey Gardens and as each day lengthens more and more exotic flowers appear.  Autumn is a stunning time to visit the Isles of Scilly with the beautiful golden, reds and ambers of the seasonal foliage against a backdrop of proteas, aloes and flowering camellias thrown in for good measure.

Truly a sub-tropical paradise, this tiny corner of England has remained unpolluted and unchanged for decades.  The wonderful Abbey Gardens is home to more than 3,000 species and magnificent vistas, colours and scents.  There is certainly no other garden like this in the world and we will be privileged to learn of the garden's hidden secrets past and present with personally guided tours and lectures.

The Island Hotel
Our accommodation on Tresco will be at the luxurious Island Hotel - its idyllic beach setting, excellent food and charming service earn it the worthy reputation of one of Britain's most spectacular hotels.  As the helicopter touches down by the Abbey Gardens you instinctively know your visit is going to be special.  All rooms at the Island Hotel are of wonderfully generous proportions with exceptional views. Just four days here will leave you feeling renewed and revitalised, as fresh as a new spring flower!

Tour Itinerary Back to top of page

Day 1
To take the strain out of the long drive to Penzance we have arranged train transportation from London Paddington departing at 10.05 hrs - due to arrive in Penzance at 15.10 hrs. - what a pleasant way to cross the south of England.  For passengers wishing to travel from other mainline stations, please contact our reservations department for assistance on 01334 657155.  On arrival we will catch the British International helicopter to the Scillies, which only takes 20 minutes.  Arriving on Tresco is always exciting - the hotel's transport will meet you (tractor and trailer) and take you across the island. You will pass the gardens, the harbour, the lake, the Pub and the church, to the welcome of the Island Hotel - the staff always greet our guests at the door.  After being shown to your room you are free to relax and enjoy the exceptional views.  In the evening there will be a welcome presentation on how to get the most from your visit to Tresco.

Day 2 & 3
You are now free to explore Tresco at your leisure - the ancient castles, beautiful beaches, headland walks, browse in the gallery or simply relax in the hotel's comfortable lounge and take a book from the well stocked library.  There will be guided walks around the magnificent Abbey Gardens and the Valhalla collection of ship's figureheads with the head gardener and his staff.  Visiting other islands can easily be arranged - Bryher, St Martins, St Agnes and St Marys.  One of the joys of the Scillies is the fact that all the islands easily interact with each other.  Regular boat trips to see the sea birds and seals of the Western rocks, and if you are feeling adventurous, it is sometimes possible to circumnavigate Bishop's Rock lighthouse.

Day 4
Sadly it is time to leave Tresco, and a morning flight will return us to Penzance in time for our afternoon train back to Paddington due to arrive at approx 19.30 hrs.

Please note train times at this stage are provisional - exact times will be confirmed with your joining instructions approximately ten days prior to departure.

Please note - Walking Fitness
As Tresco has no cars, we believe it fair to remind passengers that a degree of mobility is required to get the most out of your visit to the island.
